What I Felt When I Heard Beautiful by Mercy Me For the First Time

This morning on my way into work, as I was pondering about a lot of things going on in my life, this song came on.  It seemed like the perfect song for a lot of what I have been experiencing lately.  Not that every single word in this song applies to me or to my life, but the message was powerful and brought tears to my eyes.

I couldn't help but ponder about all the people that I know that see themselves as less than they are, how they do not see themselves as God sees them.  I think about all the wonderful characteristics that they have, and how much they mean to me and how they help me through life, and I wonder how they could not see who they are.

I have had those days where I start to believe those same types of lies that Satan will tell us.  That we are unworthy of love, or of something else that is good for us in our lives.  That we are not good enough, not perfect, or that we cannot be used for good until we have become something better than we are.  I have pondered a lot about life and the different lies that we are told by the media, others, and ourselves.  That we are able to be as great as we want to be, and that we are the ones that stop ourselves from being everything that we could be.  We all have endless potential and are capable of much more than we think we are.  I think that this song touches on this so well.

When we look in the mirror, we should realize that we are beautiful, and that God loves us, right now, as we are, and that we can be used to fulfill wonderful and great things, even when we are still 'under construction'. That is the beauty of God's perfect plan, that the simple, the small, and the imperfect can fulfill his will perfectly, if we just let go of ourselves, and let him lead and guide us, and focus on seeing ourselves and each other as God would see us.

Remember that you are a treasure, that you yourself are sacred, simply because you are His!
